Interview with Tara Tied
I had the pleasure of working with Tara. Tara has a unique and versatile style about her modeling and works hard to deliver the concept at hand. I'm looking forward to working with her again in the near future.
Artist's Statement:
I have been an art nude and fetish model for about 5 years now. I got into modeling just for fun and it quickly blossomed into more than a hobby. Pin up style nudes and fetish are what I'm mostly known for, but I also shoot glamour and even some commercial type of pictures. I am very inspired by old school pin up and retro fetish icons like Bettie Page, Irving Klaw, and Eric Stanton.
With that said I would like to ask how you got started with modeling and how long have you been in the industry?
About 5 years ago I started modeling as a hobby and as a way to have some fun. I have always loved pin up art and photography and wanted to emulate some of my favorite retro models- Marilyn Monroe, Betty Brosmer, and Jayne Mansfield to name a few.
It's obvious that bondage is your choice of modeling (TaraTied), how did you decide or how did you discover this side of you as a model?
From the get-go I knew I wasn't going to be a mainstream model. For one, I am not tall enough or skinny enough for fashion modeling. I did contemplate getting into commercial modeling, but I knew it wasn't for me. I always got into modeling to become a nude pin up and fetish model. It just always appealed to me and felt right.
I intended on doing bondage modeling since I started. I knew at an early age that I like bondage and had always wanted to take a try at being a fetish model. I got my name because I like being tied up! It's as simple as that lol.
What is your favorite category to model and why?
My favorite genre is pin up, whether it's the more innocent cheesecake type of pin up where I'm laughing happily on a beach or a more fetish type of fetish with BDSM mixed in.
Throughout your modeling im sure you have been to many different places, which has been your favorite and what kind of project were you working on?
I've been to many parts of the U.S thanks to my modeling and have worked with so many great people! My favorite place I've been to so far would have to be Texas, more specifically Austin. It was a funky town with a nice vibe, a lot of artists, and perfect weather. I really like Batimore MD too. Another artistic town with some very creative people.
Is there anyone who has inspired your work?
A lot of vintage pin up models and photographers inspire me. Bunny Yeager is one of my favorites because not only was she a successful pin up model but she is an amazing pin up photographer too. Current alt models also inspire me.
When at a photoshoot, what do you love most about the experience and what do you find challenging as a model
My favorite thing about photoshoots is getting to meet so many people, whether it's photographers, makeup artists or other models. Being able to have a job where I'm social and get to make friends every where I go keeps my job entertaining and I get to learn a lot about people and what they like or don't like.
Some times it's difficult to play another person on a shoot. What I mean is, some times I am asked to step outside myself and act like another person to create a mood for a picture or video. While it's a challenge it's fun to act and get it right!
Of all your work, which is your favorite?
I can't pick a favorite work of mine! I've shot with many different people, all who have their own style and shoot different genres. Each shows a different part of me.
How would you best describe yourself using just 3 words?
3 words to describe myself: funny friendly and determined
What do you think your strongest feature is in modeling?
My strongest feature would have to be my versatility. I can play the sweet and innocent girl next door and the next minute be a dominant minx. I've been told I am really good at posing too.
At the end of the day when all is done what are you most proud of?
I'm most proud of setting out to do something on my own and never giving up and always improving on it. I have made a career for myself and I'm my own boss, what could be better than that!? I've been working since I was 14 and I'm lucky enough to have found something I love doing and something that always keeps me busy and keeps my attention.
To my fans-thank you! It means a lot to actually have fans, it's always surprising to me when people tell me they love what I do and who I am. I have just started my own clip store so check it out http://www.clips4sale.com/55921
